About This Site
NavyShipExposure.com is an independent public-interest media resource maintained by Rights Watch Media Group LLC. We publish documented asbestos exposure histories for U.S. Navy vessels, shipyards, naval bases, and ratings — drawn from public VA records, NARA archives, EPA/OSHA databases, and published asbestos litigation records.
Our mission is to help Navy veterans, civilian shipyard workers, and their families understand asbestos exposure risks, identify the legal rights and compensation pathways available to them, and access the information they need to pursue VA benefits and civil claims.
What We Cover
- Navy Ships — Documented histories of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) reportedly used aboard specific U.S. Navy vessels, by class and hull number
- Shipyards — Construction and overhaul facilities where Navy ships were built and repaired, and where civilian workers were allegedly exposed
- Naval Bases — Shore-based facilities where sailors and civilian DoD employees may have encountered asbestos in buildings, boiler plants, and steam systems
- Navy Ratings — Enlisted job specialties (MOS) and the specific compartments and materials associated with elevated asbestos exposure for each rating
- VA Claims Guidance — Step-by-step information on filing for presumptive VA disability benefits under 38 CFR § 3.309(d)
- Trust Fund Information — Asbestos bankruptcy trust funds established by manufacturers of products used aboard U.S. Navy vessels
- DD-214 Guidance — How to obtain and use discharge documents to support a VA or civil claim
