USS Frank E. Evans (DD-754) was an Allen M. Sumner-class destroyer that served in the Pacific Theater during the final months of World War II, earning one battle star, and subsequently deployed extensively during the Korean War (five battle stars) and Vietnam War. On 3 June 1969, while operating in formation in the South China Sea, she collided with the Royal Australian Navy aircraft carrier HMAS Melbourne and was cut in half, resulting in 74 fatalities; her stern section was later sunk as a target in Subic Bay.
