USS Rabaul (CVE-121) was a Commencement Bay-class escort carrier laid down in January 1945 and delivered to the Navy in August 1946, shortly after World War II ended. Never commissioned, she was assigned to the Pacific Reserve Fleet at Tacoma and remained in reserve for 26 years, undergoing reclassifications as a helicopter escort carrier (1955) and aircraft ferry (1959) before being struck from the Naval Vessel Register in 1971. The ship was sold for scrap in 1972 and scrapped in 1973, having seen no active service.
